Isuzu NPS & NPR Suspension Upgrades
Purpose-built suspension and reinforcement solutions for Isuzu NPR and NPS trucks, designed to improve ride comfort, durability, and long-term reliability.
From harsh factory front suspension to known rear shock mount failures, we’ve developed proven upgrades to address the most common weaknesses in these trucks, without compromising safety or legality.
Rear Lower Shock Mount Reinforcement (Isuzu NPS / NPR)
It’s fairly common for standard Isuzu NPS and NPR trucks to suffer failure of the rear lower shock absorber mounts on the differential housing. The factory mounts are thin and lightly welded, and in many cases they tear away from the housing, even when running the standard shock absorbers.
The risk increases significantly when upgraded shock absorbers are fitted, as the additional damping places far greater loads on the factory mounts. When a mount fails, the shock can hang from the upper mount, leading to bent brackets, destroyed shocks, or complete loss of the shock assembly. With quality aftermarket shocks costing anywhere from $1,200 to $4,000 each, this is far from ideal.
Our Solution
We designed and manufactured ultra heavy-duty rear lower shock mounts to permanently eliminate this issue.
Installation Requirements
Factory mounts must be cut off
Differential housing ground back to bare metal
Mounts welded into place by a highly experienced MIG welder
Kit Features:
10mm thick laser-cut steel mounts
Key-way cut for structural strength
Braced design between mounts
Supplied spacers to correctly align the shock absorber
Prevents shock body contact through full suspension travel
These mounts completely replace the factory brackets and are designed to withstand significantly higher loads than the original setup.
Important Note:
It is imperative that when welding on a diff housing, welds should never be done vertically for long sections; this will cause the housing to warp. The majority of their strength in the welds is along the top and the bottom of the housing and within the bracing welded horizontally with only small stitch welds vertically.
Isuzu NPR 2WD Front Suspension Lift Kit (4.5T Only)
Improve Ride Comfort and Usable Suspension Travel
Isuzu NPR trucks are well known for having an extremely unforgiving front suspension. From factory, there is typically only 25-30mm of suspension travel before the bump stops contact the axle housing, resulting in a very harsh and jarring ride, even on sealed roads.
Through testing, we’ve found that a minimum of 50mm of suspension travel is required for everyday driving, with up to 70mm needed for rougher roads and worksite conditions.
What Our Kit Does
Our front suspension lift kit raises the front of the truck to increase bump stop clearance from approximately 25mm to 75mm. This allows the suspension to work through its full range of movement without constantly contacting the bump stops, dramatically improving ride comfort and control.
Being a cab-over-axle design, the truck will still have noticeable vertical movement. This upgrade won’t turn it into a luxury vehicle but it will significantly reduce harshness and make the truck far more comfortable to drive.
Kit Components
Custom front leaf springs, manufactured to our specifications
Approximate 2-inch front lift
Retains standard factory front shackles (shackle changes are not legal on light vehicles)
Springs optimised in length to achieve correct shackle angle and improved ride quality
Shock Absorbers
The only shock absorbers we supply with our kits are:
King Monotube IFP shocks
King remote reservoir adjustable shocks
King shocks are globally recognised for durability, performance, and serviceability. They are fully rebuildable and designed to survive harsh conditions unlike many alternatives that are not serviceable and have a limited lifespan.
For best results, we strongly recommend upgrading all four shocks, not just the front, to maintain balanced damping and vehicle control.
Optional Rear Suspension & Wheel Upgrades
Rear Springs
Rear spring upgrades are available; however, most NPR trucks share similar rear suspension across the range. Upgrading rear springs on a light truck will typically raise the rear height significantly and should be considered carefully.
Super single wheel conversion (NPR 4.5T only)
Once the front of the truck is raised, a super single conversion can be carried out, replacing the factory dual rear wheels with a single wheel setup running all-terrain tyres. This greatly improves traction on wet grass, dirt roads, and work sites.
Wheel & tyre requirements:
Minimum tyre load rating: 121
Typical size: LT265/70R17
Tyres must be Light Truck (LT) rated
We do not supply tyres, and it is critical that correct load ratings are used to meet the rear axle payload requirements.
Important Note On Legality
Final approval from Queensland Transport for mod plating of 2WD NPR super single conversions is still pending. While the 2WD and 4WD trucks are mechanically similar, only the 4WD variants currently have full ADR and modification approval.
Pricing Guide
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Front leaf springs (pair) | $1,850 |
| Front U-bolts (4 required) | $90 each |
| King Monotube IFP shocks | $1,200 each |
| Front shocks only (pair) | $2,400 |
| Estimated parts total (front springs & shocks) | ~$4,800 |
| Additional rear shocks | $2,400 |

Installation time:
Front only: approx. 6 hours
Front & rear: approx. 7 hours
Wheel alignment is required after installation. Factory camber settings are often poor and may require correction. Alignment and camber correction costs vary depending on condition.
Parts Supply & Freight
We can supply parts only if required. Due to size and weight, suspension components are freighted on a pallet. Estimated pallet freight costs typically range from $100-$800, depending on location.
